On June 20, 2026, a team of players from Central, North, and South Florida traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, for an unforgettable week of baseball and cultural immersion.
The team’s first game took place on Sunday, June 21, against El Niche Academy in Santo Domingo Norte. On Monday, June 22, they traveled to Villa Altagracia to face Liga RFigueroa. The following day, Tuesday, June 23, the team competed against Academia Samuel Martes at the historic Estadio Tetelo Vargas in San Pedro de Macorís, one of the Dominican Republic’s most iconic baseball venues.
On Day 4, the team visited the New York Yankees Dominican Republic Academy in Boca Chica, where they experienced firsthand how newly signed prospects train, develop, and work relentlessly toward their dream of reaching the major leagues. They also had the opportunity to watch several innings of a Dominican Summer League (DSL) game between the Yankees and Mets organizations before relaxing at the beautiful beach in Juan Dolio.
The baseball continued on Day 5 with a matchup against Academia Otro Nivel in Santo Domingo Este, followed by Day 6, when the team traveled to San Antonio de Guerra to compete against Academia El Mayor. Throughout the week, the team played a total of eight games, finishing with an impressive 6–2 record.
Overall, the trip was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. The combination of international competition and cultural immersion made this journey truly special. From playing in historic stadiums and competing against elite Dominican academies to witnessing the professional player development process firsthand, every moment provided valuable memories and experiences. We can’t wait to see what the future holds and look forward to many more trips like this.

What an unforgettable experience!
Baseball has taught me countless life lessons and opened doors I never imagined possible. This journey was especially meaningful because I had the privilege of coaching the game I love in the place where I was born—the Dominican Republic, the Baseball Capital of the World.
To return home and give back to the sport in a country that has given so much to the game was a true full-circle moment. Moments like these remind me that baseball is about so much more than wins and losses—it’s about relationships, growth, gratitude, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
I’m incredibly thankful to Florida Canes and Alejandro for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. Sharing this experience with my son and building lifelong memories alongside my new baseball family made it even more special.
My heart is full, and I’ll cherish this experience forever.

This trip was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Playing baseball in DR, meeting new people, and learning about the culture made me appreciate the game even more. I’m grateful I got this opportunity, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you for making it happen!

This experience for me was truly inspiring, the game of baseball has always had a place in my heart and to see the love and passion that the people of the dominican republic have for the game first hand moved me in many different ways. Aside from the passion, the talent of the players that we played against young and old was truly amazing when taking into account the resources available to them. We were able to play in a vast amount of fields from professional stadiums to backyard ballparks and see players at every level of the international pathway. Along with the full immersion to the dominican baseball experience me and my teammates grew a close bond between having fun on the ball field everyday and creating memories off the field aswell. I am truly grateful for the experience and will cherish the memories made for a long time.
